By the grace of Hashem,

5 Adar Rishon 5711,

To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

faithfully to communal needs,

Rav Moshe HaKohen[1],

Greetings and blessing,

I received in its time the request for a blessing that you addressed to me for yourself, for your wife, for ..., and for the members of his family. On the day of the Hilula* of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, I read it at his tziyun*. Without a doubt, he arouses Hashem's mercy for all those bound to him in general, and for you, your wife, and that family in particular—and he will continue to do so so that you live well and your needs are met.

And Hashem will fully fulfill the blessings of the tzaddik*, for they are greater than during their lifetime[2].

You will be able to give me good news and inform me that all those mentioned earlier are doing better.

You will also indicate to me the situation of Mr. ..., regarding Yiddishkeit* and the practice of mitzvos*.

You know the saying of the Baal Shem Tov*, that a neshama* descends to this world for seventy or eighty years solely in order to render a service, material or spiritual, to the neshama of one Jewish man or woman[3].

Obviously, one must not be content to do so once or twice, but rather, in the common expression of Chazal*, found in Chullin 87a[4], "even a hundred times."

If you are trying to help this family recover health and secure its livelihood, you must also concern yourself with its spiritual situation and come to its aid in this domain as well, to the fullest extent possible.

This week's Parshah* states that "Aharon shall bear the judgment of Bnei Yisrael* upon his heart before Hashem, continually," and the deeds of the fathers are an instruction to the children[5].

בעתו קבלתי את הפ"נ ששלח בעד עצמו, בעד זוגתו תחי' בעד... וב"ב יחיו, וקראתים ביום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר על הציון שלו, ובטח מעורר הוא וגם יעורר להבא, רחמים על המקושרים אליו בכלל, ועל כבוד זוגתו והנ"ל, יחיו כולם בטוב, בפרט להמצטרך להם, והשי"ת ימלא ברכות צדיק על מילואן, כי גדולים צדיקים כו' יותר מבחייהן.

ויוכל לבשרני טובות מהטבת בריאות כהנ"ל.

כן מטובו להודיע ממצב מר... ביהדות ושמירת המצות.

ידוע פתגם הבעש"ט, אשר לפעמים נשמה יורדת למטה לשבעים שמונים שנה בשביל לעשות טובה לאחד או לאחת מבנ"י בגשמיות או ברוחניות.

אבל פשיטא שאין להסתפק בעשיית טובה פעם אחת או שתים כו' אלא, כמורגל בלשון רז"ל אפילו מאה פעמים (עיין חולין פ"ז, א': הכא כתיב מיעוטא),

ואם עוזר להנ"ל בבריאות, פרנסה וכו' בטח מתענין גם כן במצבם ברוחניות ועוזר להם ככל האפשרי בזה.

וכלשון הכתוב בפרשת השבוע: ונשא אהרן (ומעשה אבות סימן לבנים) את משפט בנ"י על לבו לפני הוי' תמיד.
