I bless and greet you,

I am responding to your letter, in which you write to me that a match has been proposed to you, but that your father and mother do not share the same view in this matter. You must ask your parents to consult with one another until they reach an identical position. But if they are unable to do so, it is the mother's opinion that prevails in this domain.

Of course, this proposal should be considered only if the young man observes Torah* and Mitzvot* in his daily life. At a propitious moment, all those you mention will be remembered at the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. With my blessing that you give me good news, as well as for a kosher and joyous Passover* festival,

במענה למכתבה בו כותבת אודות הצעת נכבדות ואשר אין דיעות אבי' ואמה שי' שוות בזה.

ותבקש את ההורים שלה שי' שיתדברו ביניהם ויבואו לדיעה אחידה, ובאם לא יוכלו להתדבר הרי בכגון זה יש להתחשב יותר בדעת האם.

ומובן ופשוט שבכלל יש להתענין ע"ד נכבדות אך ורק כשהמדובר הוא שומר תורה ומצות בחיי היום יומים.
