By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
Rav Baruch*,
You write to me that you have difficulty earning a living. One knows the counsel given by our Sages[1] in this regard. One must not reduce one's participation in Tzedakah*, but on the contrary increase it and distribute it in very many small amounts[2]. One of the propitious times to do so is every weekday morning, before prayer. You will then set aside a few coins for Tzedakah*.

לכתבו אודות הדוחק בפרנסה, ידועה עצת חז"ל שלא לקמץ בצדקה, ואדרבה להרבות בזה ולחלקה לפעמים רבות, ומהזמנים המסוגלים לזה הוא בכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה.
