To Madame Miryam(1),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 6 Nissan, in which you write that you have obtained the position of kindergarten teacher within the community of Zurich, and the difficulties that arise from it. It is correct to affirm that the education of the children of Israel represents a great responsibility. Indeed, it is said(2) of each and every one of them: "You are children to the Lord your Hashem." Nevertheless, the Holy One blessed be He wished to create His world such that everyone requires education, all the more so the children of the supreme King, the Holy One blessed be He. For "man is born like a wild donkey"(3) and "the Torah was not given to the ministering angels"(4), including the Mitzva* of education found in our holy Torah*, Torah of life. This means that with this responsibility, higher powers have been granted so that one may fulfill this important mission. For this, one must devote oneself to it with all one's heart, and "one is given assistance when one desires to become pure"(5), all the more so as the merit of the many — in this case your students — comes to your aid.

By fulfilling all of this with joy and enthusiasm, as must be the case for every Mitzva*(6), one multiplies Hashem's blessing and success. With my blessing for a kosher* and joyous Pesach* festival,

The circumstances of life and the existence of each person raise difficulties from time to time. When there is a doubt and one seeks a solution, one must therefore apply the words of the verse(7): "salvation comes from many counselors," among the friends of one's immediate circle.

ברכה ושלום!

במענה למכתבה מיום ששי בניסן, בו כותבת אודות קבלת משרת גננת בק"ק ציריך, והבעיות הכרוכות בזה.

והנה אם נכון הדבר אשר אחריות גדולה בחינוך בנ"י, שהרי על כל אחד ואחת מהם נאמר בנים אתם לה' אלקיכם, אבל רצה הקב"ה לברוא עולמו שכל אחד זקוק לחינוך ועאכו"כ בניו של ממה"מ הקב"ה, שהרי אדם עיר פרא יולד, ולא ניתנה תורה למלאכי השרת כולל גם מצות החינוך אשר בתורתנו תורת חיים, שמזה מובן שביחד עם האחריות ניתנו מלמעלה הכחות למלא תפקיד אחראי זה, ובלבד שיתמסר האדם למילואו בכל לבו, והבא לטהר מסייעין אותו, ובפרט שזכות הרבים, הם התלמידים שלה מסייעתה.

ועשי' בהאמור מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב, כפי שצ"ל קיום כל מצוה ומצוה, מוסיפה בברכת השם והצלחתו.

בברכת חג פסח כשר ושמח.

מנהגו של עולם ובחיי כל אחד שמזמן לזמן ישנן בעיות - ובמקום ספק בפתרונן, נוהגין ע"פ הכתוב: ותשועה ברוב יועץ, מבין ידידים בסביבתה.

ובפרט לפי' המכילתא (בא יב, כז) שע"י הקרבן פסח - פסח ה' על בתי בנ"י. ואף שזמן קרבן הפסח הוא בערב פסח והלילה שאחריו - הרי גם חה"ש הוא ע"ש ז' שבועות שקדמו לו.
