I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter of 30/3, requesting my blessing. At a propitious moment, it will be read near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, may his merit protect us. With my blessing for a kosher* and joyous Pesach* festival,

P.S.: I am responding to your question. You tell me, in fact, that what has recently occurred in your family is incomprehensible. As has already been noted on various occasions, it is by no means surprising that a person does not understand Hashem's ways(1). Indeed, it is the contrary that would have been particularly surprising — if one were able to understand them. And there is the well-known analogy given in this regard: a child attending kindergarten who would understand and grasp the reasons for the laws governing the country and the rulings issued by the highest court(2) would truly be a prodigy, and in all of history no such thing has ever been seen! Those who currently lead the country, its highest authorities, were themselves once children and attended kindergarten. Then, gradually, those children grew up and accumulated knowledge and experience surpassing that of those who are currently adults. By contrast, how can one draw a parallel with the relationship between man and Hashem? How can one imagine that the human intellect would grasp and comprehend the conduct of the supreme Authority, imposed on all and everything — that of the Creator of the world? I trust it is unnecessary to elaborate on what has just been said.

Therefore, it is only certain matters that Hashem wished to reveal, causing the human intellect to grasp and understand His conduct. One must add that the more one relies on pure faith, on trust in Hashem, the more one observes and logically understands the events of the world — both in general and in one's private life in particular. May Hashem bless you in all your needs and grant you, above all, true tranquility of mind, inner calm, and harmony. May He give you an orderly life, good for you in every domain, in a visible and tangible good — which can indeed be perceived as such by the human intellect. Daily conduct in accordance with the teachings of our holy Torah, which is called Torah of life — a living Torah that shows how one should live — is the path and the appropriate means for receiving Hashem's blessings.

במענה לשאלתה ,שאינו מובן מה שאירע לאחרונה במשפחתה וכו׳.

כפי שכבר דובר בהזדמנויות אחדות ,אין זה פלא כלל אם אדם אינו

מבין את הנהגת השם יתברך .אדרבה ,היה זה פלא ,וגדול ביותר ,אם היו

מבינים ,וכידוע המשל בזה ,שילד שעדיין הולך לגן ילדים ,יבין וישיג את

נימוקי חוקי המדינה על פיהם מתנהלת המדינה ,ואת פסקי הדין

היוצאים ע״י בית המשפט העליון וכו׳ .גם אם הילד יהיה ילד פלא ,טרם

אירע בהיסטוריה מציאות כזו ,אף שמנהיגי המדינה והשופטים בבית

המשפט הגבוה כעת ,גם הם היו בזמנם בגילו של הילד ,בגן ילדים ,והילד

יגיע וישיג במשך הזמן בידע ובפעולות יותר מאשר המבוגרים כעת .היאך,

אם־כן ,ניתן להשוות כאשר מדובר אודות אדם ,אל מול השם יתברך,

ששכלו יהיה מסוגל להשיג ולהבין את הנהגת השופט העליון על הכל ועל

כולם ,בורא העולם .ותקוותי שאין צורך להוסיף עוד על הכתוב לעיל.

ישנם רק דברים אחדים שהשם יתברך רצה וגילה ,וקבע כך שגם

השכל האנושי יוכל להבין את הנהגתו.

יש עוד להוסיף ,שככל שסומכים יותר על האמונה הטהורה ובטחון
