To Mr. Israel Yeshayahu,

I greet you and bless you,

It was a pleasant surprise to receive your letter of 4 Nissan, the month of deliverance. I received a blessing(1) and will return it, in the traditional formulation, for a kosher* and joyous Pesach festival — a true freedom, both material and spiritual, liberation from everything that impedes the service of Hashem with joy and enthusiasm. And then this freedom and this joy will continue throughout the year. With my respects and my blessing,

P.S.: I take this opportunity to thank you once again for the Siddur Te'halet*. This recently served me in establishing the custom(2) of the seven blessings*(3). You also write that you remember our meeting and our conversation. Based on this, I express the earnest hope that you make full use, as much as possible, of the influence you can exert on the new Knesset*, so that it adopts a position befitting the place in which it finds itself — the holy city of Jerusalem*, in the Holy Land*, a designation given to it even by the nations of the world. If you exercise influence in this direction, we are assured that "one is given assistance when one desires to become pure"(4). And the Admor HaZaken*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, specifies(5) that this consists both in purifying oneself and in purifying others.

הפתעה נעימה היתה לי לקבל מכתבו מיום ד' בניסן, חודש הגאולה. וברך לקחתי ואשיבנו בנוסח ברכה המסורתית - לחג הפסח כשר ושמח, וחרות אמתית, חרות בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד, חרות מכל ענינים המבלבלים עבודת השם בשמחה ובטוב לבב,

ולהמשיך מחרות ושמחה זו בכל ימות השנה.

בכבוד ובברכה.

נ.ב. בהזדמנות זו עוה"פ אודה לו בעד הסידור "תכלאל", ובמיוחד הי' לי לעזר זה לא כבר בבירור מנהג בנוגע שבע ברכות.

בהסתמכי על כתבו שזוכר פגישתנו ושיחתנו, רצוני להביע תקותי חזקה שמנצל במדה הכי מלאה השפעתו בכנסת החדשה שתתנהג ברוח המקום, ירושלים עיר הקדש בארץ הקדש, ארץ אשר אפילו אומות העולם ארץ הקדש יקראו לה. ובהשפעה בכיוון האמור הובטחנו הבא לטהר - ומדייק אדמו"ר הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע: לטהר (עצמו ולטהר) אחרים - מסייעין אותו.
