By the grace of Hashem,

To the young Yaakov Yosef(1),
to the young Israel Elazar(2),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of this Monday. At a propitious moment, your names will be mentioned near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, may his merit protect us, so that the desire of your heart may be fulfilled — that everything may be arranged for your positive and firmly resolved decision to study, with enthusiasm and ardor, our holy Torah*, Torah of life(3), to take effect. Without a doubt, this also includes a fixed time for the study of the profound portion of the Torah, which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidut*. The necessity of all this is established by various texts, in particular the Kuntrass Limmud HaChassidut* and the Kuntrass Torat HaChassidut*, by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*(4), near whose tomb your names will be mentioned. Just as you have conveyed this request to me, may Hashem grant that you give me good news of it.

You surely maintain the practice of reciting the Tehillim* according to their monthly division, each morning after prayer. Likewise, it would be good to have your Tefillin* inspected, if this has not been done in the past twelve months. Each weekday, before putting on the Tefillin, you will set aside a few coins for Tzedakah*. Of course, you will commit to this without making it a vow. With my blessing so that I may receive good news of all this,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבם מיום השני בשבת.

בעת רצון יזכירום על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע למילוי משאלות לבבם לטובה, שיסתדרו כל הענינים באופן שימלאו החלטתם הטובה (שבודאי בתוקף היא) ללמוד בהתמדה ושקידה תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, שבודאי נכלל בזה גם קביעות עתים בלימוד פנימיות התורה, שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות, וכמבואר ההכרח בזה בכ"מ ומהם בקונטרס לימוד החסידות ותורת החסידות לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שעל הציון הק' שלו יזכרו.

ויהי רצון שכשם שהביאו הבקשה כן יבשרו טוב בזה.

בטח שומרים הם על התקנה דאמירת השיעור תהלים חדשי - כמו שנחלק לימי החדש - בכל יום אחר תפלת הבקר, וגם מהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלהם - באם לא נבדקו בשנים עשר חדש האחרונים - ובכל יום חול קודם הנחת התפילין להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה - כמובן שהפרשה לצדקה צ"ל בלי נדר -.
