By the grace of Hashem,

I greet and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 19 Iyar, in which you briefly describe what has recently happened to you, your current state of mind, and you cite, in this regard, verses from Psalms 22[1]. I am greatly surprised that you stop the citation where you should not have. Indeed, the answer appears just after the verses you mention[2]. A sound piece of advice is stated there: "One who casts his burden upon Hashem — He will sustain him. He will save him[3], for He desires him." Moreover, in the same letter you indicate that you have already repaid a large portion of your debts. You will surely be able to ease the repayment conditions set for you, so that you can continue your payments and have your debts cancelled.

By strengthening your trust in Hashem, Who extends His Providence to each individual, you will increase His blessing. Nevertheless, the channel and the vessel through which it is obtained are the Torah and its Mitzvot*. Indeed, these days are auspicious, as one prepares to receive the Torah. For someone like yourself, it is surely unnecessary to say more. Your father, the great Rav*, to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years, did me the honor of paying a visit yesterday. I took pleasure in conversing with him, clarifying matters, and hearing his views on communal and personal questions. May Hashem lengthen his days and years in a pleasant manner. May he, in particular, derive true satisfaction from all his descendants, spread Judaism with success and in abundance. With my respects and my blessing, according to the traditional formulation, to receive the Torah with joy and in depth, as well as for good tidings concerning the contents of your letter, in joy and enthusiasm,

שלום וברכה!

מאשר אני קבלת מכתבו מי"ט באייר, בו כותב ראשי-פרקים מאשר עבר עליו לאחרונה ומצב רוחו עתה , ומצטט פסוקים ממזמור כ"ב דתהלים.

ולפלא גדול שהפסיק הציטוט במקום שאין להפסיק, שהרי תיכף לאחרי הכתובים שמביא בא שוברם בצדם, עצה נאמנה - גול [א]ל ה' יפלטהו יצילהו כי חפץ בו.

ובפרט אשר במכתבו זה עצמו כותב שחלק חשוב מהחובות שלו כבר סילק, ובטח יעלה בידו להקל תנאי התשלומין שקבעו, באופן שיוכל להמשיך ולשלם ולסלק החובות.

והוספה בבטחון בהשי"ת המשגיח על כל אחד ואחד בהשגחה פרטית מוסיפה בברכת ה', אלא שהצנור והכלי לקבלת הברכה הן התורה ומצוותי'. והרי ימים אלו ימי סגולה הם בזה, ימי הכנה לקבלת התורה. ובודאי לדכוותי' דמר האריכות בהאמור למותר.

נתכבדתי בביקור אביו הרה"ג וכו' שליט"א אמש, ונעם לי לדבר אתו לברר ולשמוע ע"ד ענינים כלליים ופרטיים, יאריך הוי' ימיו ושנותיו בטוב ובנעימים, כולל נחת אמתי מכל יוצאי חלציו שיחיו, ויצליח בהפצת היהדות מתוך הרחבה.
