To the Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem, dedicates himself
to communal needs, and has good conduct,

I greet and bless you,

I learned with pleasure, through the great Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid who fears Hashem, dedicates himself to communal needs, and has multiple accomplishments — Rav Ben Tzion Shem Tov — of the gift of your pure heart, your contribution toward the seminary for young women of Kfar Chabad*. Every Jewish girl is a descendant of Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah, who built the house of Israel[3]. For someone such as yourself, it is therefore unnecessary to describe the importance of educating the daughters of Israel, particularly in these days that prepare for the festival of Shavuot, the time of the giving of our Torah. The Torah itself emphasizes all this by mentioning "the house of Yaakov — the women" before "the children of Israel — the men," as our Sages explain[4]. Moreover, a large number of the students of this institution are daughters of our Sephardic* brothers. As far as you are concerned[5], they are therefore "the poor of your city"[6].

In general, "the reward of a Mitzvah is the Mitzvah itself"[7], but how much more so is this the case for Tzedakah*, which is considered equivalent to all of the Mitzvot[8]. Moreover, Rav B. T. Shem Tov wrote to me that you perform these gifts with benevolence. Now, it is stated in tractate Bava Batra* 9b that "one who gives a coin to a poor person receives six blessings; one who comforts him with words receives eleven." May Hashem therefore bring it about that, in joy and enthusiasm, adding and advancing, you give again and again[9], so as to multiply the "acts of kindness that liberate"[10]. And Hashem will bless you with considerable success in all that you undertake. With my blessing, according to the formulation of my father-in-law the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, as he himself received it — to receive the Torah with joy and in depth,

בנועם קבלתי הידיעה מהרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ רב פעלים וכו' מוהר"ר בן ציון שי' שם טוב על דבר נדבת לבו הטהור ותרומתו לסמינר לבנות בכפר חב"ד.

שבכלל בענין הקשור עם חינוך בנות ישראל, שכל אחת מהן בת שרה רבקה ורחל [ולאה] אשר בנו בית ישראל, אין צורך להאריך לדכוותי'. ובפרט בימי הכנה אלו לחג השבועת זמן מתן תורתנו, שבקישור עם זה התורה בעצמה מדגישה ומקדימה בית יעקב - אלו הנשים לבני ישראל - אלו האנשים, כדיוק חכמינו ז"ל.

עוד זאת בנידון מוסד האמור, שחלק חשוב מהתלמידות הן בנות אחינו בני ישראל הספרדים, שבנוגע למר הן בבחינת עניי עירך.

ואם בכל מצוה שכר מצוה מצוה, על אחת כמה וכמה במצות הצדקה השקולה כנגד כל המצוות, ובפרט שכפי שכתב לי הרב"צ שי' שם טוב נתינותיו של מר הן בסבר פנים יפות, שיש בזה לא רק הנותן פרוטה לעני מתברך בשש, אלא גם המפייסו שמתברך בי"א (ב"ב ט, ב).

ויהי רצון שבשמחה ובטוב לבב ובאופן דמוסיף והולך יתן ויחזור ויתן להרבות צדקת פרזונו ויברכהו השם יתברך ויתעלה בהצלחה מופלגה בכל אשר יפנה.

בברכה - על פי נוסח כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע שהיתה אצלו בקבלה מקודם - לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
