To our friends, members of our community,

distinguished chassidim* who fear Hashem,

residents of Paris and the surrounding settlements[1],

to whom Hashem will grant long life,

Greetings and blessing,

Our friend, the Rav, distinguished chassid who fears Hashem, Rav Binyamin Gorodetzki, has informed me that you have made the good decision to organize a weekly study of Chassidus* in the office hall[2], in two groups. Chassidim from all the settlements will participate, and you will surely strive to put into practice the mitzvah* of spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus outward, with all that this entails, as the letter of last 10 Kislev explains. Therein lies an introduction, a preparation, and a vessel for the imminent coming of Moshiach*.

Concerning shechitah*, you have made a good resolution. Those who have acquired good experience and those who have not yet—whose practice is insufficient or whose knowledge of the laws is not yet perfect—will all continue their studies, even though some already serve as shochet*. The chassidic Rabbanim* will oversee all this.

Apart from the laws and the practice of shechitah, the responsa of the Alter Rebbe* in siman 9, those of the Tzemach Tzedek*, Yoreh Deah, siman 12, and Sha'ar HaMiluim 15–18, emphasize the importance of yiras Shamayim*. This quality is more fundamental in the shochet than in the Rav. Thus we shall merit the revelation of the great Shochet, HaKadosh Baruch Hu* Himself[3], as Chazal* say in Sukkah 52a.

I would be happy to have good news from all of you in the material domain—to know that you take on and feel the shlichus* entrusted to you, with your wives and your children; that you are all bound and attached to the head of our generation, the Frierdiker Rebbe*, the head and brain of our era. For you are members of this generation, whose head therefore secures their happiness, both spiritual and material, not contenting himself with satisfying merely a few of their needs.

ע"י ידידנו הרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"מ וכו' מוה"ר בנימין שי' גאראדעצקי נודעתי מהחלטתם הטובה לקבוע שיעור לימוד דא"ח באולם הלשכה פעם בשבוע בשתי חבורות אשר ישתתפו בזה אנ"ש מכל הקבוצים יחד, ובודאי ישתדלו לקיים המבוקש של יפוצו מעיינותיך חוצה, עם כל התנאים שבזה כמבואר במכתבי מיו"ד כסלו העבר, אשר זהו הקדמה הכנה וכלי לביאת המשיח במהרה דידן.

טוב הדבר אשר התדברו בענין השו"ב אשר אלו שהתאמנו ושלא התאמנו עדיין כראוי במלאכת הקדש זו, הן בעצם העבודה והן בידיעת ההלכות על בורים, הנה יחזרו וימשיכו הלימוד בזה - אף כי כבר מהם שממלאים משרות זביחה - ושרבני אנ"ש ישגיחו ע"ז, וידוע הדבר אשר נוסף על ידיעת ההלכות ואומנות הזביחה, הנה עיקר בדבר (שו"ת אדה"ז ס"ט. ויעויג"כ שו"ת צ"צ יו"ד סי"ב ושער המילואים טו-יח) היראת שמים, שדורשים משו"ב עוד יותר מרב. ונזכה להמיועד יום בוא השוחט הגדול הוא הקב"ה כמרז"ל סוכה (נ"ב, א).

ואתענג לשמוע בשורות טובות מכולם שיחיו בגשמיות ואשר כולם כאחד ממלאים ומרגישים תפקידם אשר הם נשיהם ובניהם ובנותיהם כולם אחוזים וקשורים בנשיא הדור הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ראש ומוחין של דור זה, ואשר הם כולם הם חלק מקומת דור זה, והרי בטוח הדבר אשר הראש מבטיח אשרו של החלק (לא רק מילוי של אחד מצרכיו הפרטיים) הרוחני והגשמי גם יחד.
