To the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem and dedicates himself
to communal needs, Rav Yechezkel[1],

I greet and bless you,

I received with pleasure your letter bearing good tidings[2]: the completion of your public teaching of tractate Shabbat*, which will take place this coming Shabbat, in the Tzemach Tzedek synagogue of the Ari Zal* rite. May Hashem bring it about that, according to the traditional formulation: "just as we conclude this tractate, so shall we begin other tractates and other books — which we will conclude, study, teach, observe, perform, and fulfill."

Moreover, the place is conducive to this, since it concerns Torah study practiced in a synagogue, as our Sages explain regarding the verse[3]: "Hashem loves the gates of Zion above all the dwellings of Yaakov," when they state in tractate Berakhot 8a: "we pray only where we study" — and one should consult, on this subject, the Shulchan Aruch of the Admor HaZaken, Orach Chaim ch. 90 §17. The name is a cause[4] — Tzemach Tzedek — and the time is a cause[5] — the day of holy Shabbat, which is moreover Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, the month of the liberation of my father-in-law the Rebbe, leader of our generation, who devoted his very self to the public study of Torah and to fervent prayer. With my respects and my blessing for success in all that has just been said,

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו, מבשר טוב, מסיומו בתלמוד תורה דרבים במסכת שבת ביום השבת הבע"ל, בבית הכנסת צמח צדק נוסח האריז"ל.

ויהי רצון אשר בנוסח הידוע, כשם שמסיימים מסכת זו כן יתחילו במסכתות וספרים אחרים לסיימם ללמוד וללמד לשמור ולעשות ולקיים וכו',

ובפרט אשר המקום גורם, לימוד התורה בבי כנישתא, וכדרשת רז"ל עה"כ אוהב ה' שערי ציון מכל משכנות יעקב וכו' מצלינא אלא היכא דגריסנא (ברכות ח' סוף ע"א, שו"ע רבנו הזקן או"ח סי' צ' סעיף י"ז)

ושמא גרים , צמח צדק, וזמנו גרים*, יום השבת קדש, וגם ר"ח תמוז, הוא חדש גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא דורנו, אשר מסר נפשו על לימוד התורה ברבים עבודת התפלה וכו'.
