I greet and bless you,

I am replying to your letter in which you request my blessing. At a propitious moment, it will be read near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. With my blessing,

N.B.: It is doubtless unnecessary to point out to you that all those who are in need of a heavenly blessing, as well as the members of their family who seek their well-being, must strengthen their daily conduct so that it conforms to the teachings of our Torah*, Torah of life, and to the observance of its Mitzvot*, of which it is said[2]: 'And you shall live by them.' First and foremost, this is an essential point — it is the divine commandment — and furthermore, it is the means of receiving the blessing that satisfies the needs of man. It would be good to have your Tefillin* examined, if this has not been done in the past twelve months. Every weekday morning, before putting them on, you will set aside a few coins for Tzedakah*. Of course, you will make this contribution without taking a vow.

בודאי למותר להדגיש, אשר כל הזקוקים לברכת השם ית' וכן בני משפחתו המעונינים בטובתו, עליהם להתחזק בהנהגתם היום יומים, שתהא מתאימה להוראות תורתו תורת חיים, ובקיום מצותי' עליהם נאמר, וחי בהם, שנוסף על העיקר שכן הוא ציווי השם ית', הרי זה גם הדרך לקבלת הברכה בהמצטרך לאדם.

ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלהם - באם לא נבדקו בשנים עשר חדש האחרונים - ובכל יום חול לפני הנחת התפילין להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה, - כמובן שהפרשה לצדקה צריכה להיות בלי נדר-.
