I bless and greet you,
I am replying to your letter of 18 Menachem Av, in which you speak to me about this person. In general, there is no reason to reply to one person concerning another. Nevertheless, as an exception, I will give you a reply in the present letter.
A) You tell me that she has not yet done all that was necessary to improve her moral situation, that she hopes to do so soon, and you will understand that I am surprised by this. If, in material matters, the sooner the better, how much more is this the case for moral concerns. Every moment, every action is an entire world, especially when one is in need of Hashem's blessing.
B) As for the matches being proposed to her — should she disclose her age? In this matter, she should address a Rav* and act according to his ruling.
C) Her journey abroad does not satisfy me. It is said, in reference to Eretz Yisrael*, that: 'the eyes of Hashem your Hashem are upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year'[1]. Nevertheless, the channel and the vessel for receiving the blessing are a daily conduct in accordance with the directives of our Torah*, Torah of life, and the observance of its Mitzvot*, of which it is said[2]: 'And you shall live by them.' ברכה ושלום!
במענה למכתבה מיום י"ח מנ"א, בו כותבת אודות מרת...
והנה בכלל אין זה ענין לענות לאחת בהנוגע לענינה של השני' כמובן.
בכל זה בתור יוצא מן הכלל, באתי במענה במכתבי זה כמובן באם נוסח השאלה וסגנונה מתאימות לדעת הנ"ל.
א) מובנת הפליאה על ההודעה, שעוד לא מלאה הדרוש בשיפור מצבה הרוחני, אלא שמקווה לשפר המצב בעתיד הקרוב, שאם בענינים גשמיים, יפה שעה אחת קודם, עאכו"כ בנוגע לענינים רוחניים, שכל רגע וכל פעולה, עולם מלא הוא, ובפרט כשזקוקים לברכת השם, כולל להחליט (בהווה ולא רק בעתיד) כדבעי בענינים חשובים.
ב) בנוגע להצעת נכבדות, האם יש מקום להודעת הגיל, בזה עלי' לפנות לרב מורה הוראה בסביבתה, שיורה לה דעת תורה בזה.
ג) נסיעתה לחו"ל אין נראית לי, והרי ארץ ישראל עלי' נאמר, עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, אלא שהצנור והכלי לקבלת הברכה, היא הנהגה בחיי היום יומים מתאימה להוראות תורתנו תורת חיים ובקיום מצותי' עליהם נאמר וחי בהם.
