To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Shneur Zalman[1],

I greet and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 23 Menachem Av and I thank you for having taken the trouble to inform me of this good news — the publication of the second volume of your book Shemen LaMaor*[2].

I am confident that you do not limit yourself to a fixed daily time for your personal study of Chassidus*. You also disseminate its wellsprings[3] among those around you, so that they reach outward and are spread there. To someone like you it is surely unnecessary to explain the importance and necessity of all this. And we have been given the assurance that words which come from the heart enter the heart of the one who hears them[4] and take effect there. With my respects and my blessing that you give me good news,

ומענין לענין באותו ענין, התקוה חזקה אשר אינו מסתפק בקביעות עתים בלימוד תורת החסידות בכל יום לעצמו, כי אם עוסק בהפצת המעינות בסביבתו, ועד שיגיעו וגם יפוצו חוצה.

ובודאי לדכוותי' גודל הענין וההכרח בהאמור אין צורך ביאור,

והובטחנו , דברים היוצאים מן הלב נכנסים אל לב השומע ופועלים פעולתם.
