To our brothers, the sons and daughters of Yisrael*,

in particular those residing in New York and its region,

to whom Hashem will grant long life,

Greetings and blessing,

Certain Jewish circles, which have for the moment abandoned Torah and mitzvos*, are exposed to intense propaganda from missionaries, who—openly or by indirect means—seek to lead these people to apostasy, chas v'shalom*. They take aim particularly at the children, who are kept distant from any Jewish chinuch*.

Chazal* say that "one who saves a Jewish soul is considered as if he had saved the entire world." This has always been the case, and how much more so at the present time, when millions of our brothers and sisters have been brutally torn from us and murdered al kiddush Hashem*. It is even clearer that each neshama* is, by itself, an entire world. The most considerable strengths must therefore be invested to maintain its bond with the Almighty.

The responsibility toward the children is particularly fundamental. They are called upon, in the future, to build Jewish homes. Every harmful influence exerted upon them—especially one that leads to apostasy, chas v'shalom—has an impact on all future generations.

It is on account of all this that I was particularly gratified to note the initiative taken in various Jewish circles. It aims to take concrete measures to combat this negative grip, to protect those neshamos one wishes to cut from their Jewish roots.

I would like in particular to salute the moral rescue work undertaken by the "Committee for the Protection and Development of Good Education," founded by the Frierdiker Rebbe* under the auspices of Merkaz L'Inyonei Chinuch*, which has designed a very precise program to attain this objective and is already at work in this direction.

The aim of every Jew, man or woman, is surely to contribute to this fundamental and essential undertaking, to the fullest extent of his means. The merit of the mitzvah of saving Jewish souls will surely protect him, and he will be blessed with all good.

במצב מוזנח ,חשופים לסכנה של תעמולה גדולה מצד מסיונרים ,שמטרתם,

באופן גלוי או מוסתר] ,להביאם[ לשמד ר״ל .הם מכוונים את מעשיהם

במיוחד כלפי ילדים שחינוכם היהודי הוזנח.

אם תמיד הי׳ שכל המקיים נפש אחת מישראל כאילו קיים עולם

מלא ,הרי על אחת כמה וכמה כעת ,כאשר בבת אחת לקחו מאתנו מליונים

מאחינו ואחיותינו הקדושים והטהורים שנהרגו על קידוש השם ,הרי כל

נפש היא עולם מלא ,ומוכרחים להפנות את הכוחות הגדולים ביותר כדי

לשמור על הקשר שלו עם שמו יתברך.

גדולה היא האחריות בנוגע לילדים בפרט ,שבעתיד עליהם לבנות בית

בישראל ,שכל השפעה רעה עליהם ,ומכל שכן השפעה של כפירה ר״ל ,נוגעת

לדורותיהם ולדורות דורותיהם.

משום כך שמחתי מאד לשמוע על התעוררות גדולה יותר שהתחילה

בחוגים היהודיים האחראים ,לנקוט אמצעים מעשיים להאבק בהשפעות

המדרדרות ,ולשמור נשמות יהודיות מלהנתק ח״ו מהמקור היהודי.

הנני שמח במיוחד לסייע לעבודת הצלת נפשות של ״ועד מגיני

ומרחיכי החינוך הכשר״] ,אשר[ נוסד ע״י כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר זצוקללה״ה

נבג״מ זי״ע ,תחת השגחת ה״מרכז לעניני חינוך״ ,שעיבד תוכניות גדולות

בתחום זה ומתקדם להגשמתן.
