By the grace of Hashem,

7 Adar 5727,

To Mrs. ...,

I bless and greet you,

I duly received your letter and may Hashem cause you to give me good news of its contents[1]. This entire month of Adar is auspicious for the children of Israel in everything that concerns them[2]. This applies equally to men and women. In this sense, Adar and Purim* surpass Chanukah*. Concerning both, our Sages say[3] that "the women also participated in the miracle." Nevertheless, regarding Purim, the Megillah* bears only the name of Esther[4].

We have been instructed[5] to increase our joy from the very start of the month of Adar, and this applies equally to women, as we have seen. A commandment of the Torah is also an infused strength, a granted possibility, in order to put it into practice. May Hashem therefore cause the causes of true joy to multiply — a visible and tangible good — for you yourself and for all those who follow you. With my blessing,

מאשר אני קבלת מכתבה, ויהי רצון שתבשר טוב בתוכנו.

והרי כל החודש - חודש אדר - מוצלח הוא לישראל בעניניהם, הן לאנשים והן לנשים, ויתרה בזה (לאדר ול)פורים לגבי חנוכה, שבשניהם אמרו חכמינו ז"ל אף הן (הנשים) היו באותו הנס, שבפורים הרי המגילה נקראת על שם אסתר בלבד.

וכיון שנצטוינו להרבות בשמחה משנכנס אדר, וגם נשים בכלל כאמור לעיל, וציווי התורה פירושו גם נתינת כח ואפשריות, יהי רצון שתרבינה הסיבות לשמחה אמתית בטוב הנראה והנגלה, לה ולכל הנלוים אלי' שי'.
