Igrot Kodesh · Letter 9296
Volume 24 · Letter 266 · To: banquet annuel des auxiliaires féminines de Brownsville
By the grace of Hashem,
Fast of Esther* 5727,
Brooklyn, New York,
To the annual banquet of the women's auxiliaries of Brownsville and East New York of the Yeshivot Tomchei Temimim*,
to all participants, may Hashem grant you long life,
I greet and bless you,
I have already spoken and written at length about the special role of Jewish women in the preservation and transmission of Torah* and Jewish values from generation to generation. It is sufficient to recall that the Redemption from Egypt came about in the merit of the righteous women of that generation. This pattern recurs throughout Jewish history: in times of crisis and darkness, it is the women who strengthen the household, who raise the children with faith and love of Torah, and who ensure the continuity of the Jewish people.
The women's auxiliaries who support the Yeshivot Tomchei Temimim* are the living continuation of this great tradition. By supporting the education of the next generation of Torah leaders and Chassidim*, you are fulfilling a mission of the greatest importance — one whose fruits are eternal.
The Purim* season in which we find ourselves is particularly relevant. The salvation of Purim came about through Esther, a woman, acting with courage and self-sacrifice. The Megillah* bears her name because she was the primary agent of the miracle. The lesson is clear: when women commit themselves fully to a sacred cause, their power is immense.
May Hashem bless each of you with all that you need — materially and spiritually — and may the merit of supporting Torah education stand by you and all the members of your households. May you see only good and blessing, and may Hashem cause your joy to increase, in the spirit of the joy of Purim and the approaching festival of freedom, Pesach*. With my blessing,
M. Schneerson,
