I greet and bless you,

It was a pleasant surprise for me to receive the book you published. Its author informs me that it was addressed to me at your request. Beyond the intrinsic importance of receiving a book, this also proves that our meeting has remained not only in my memory but in yours as well.

I hope that, since we met, you have continued your activities and are doing everything in your power to fulfill your role as a publisher[1]. As these terms fully indicate, this means that your publications must bring light to their readers. Now, according to the words of our Sages[2], "there is no light but the Torah" — our eternal Torah, Torah of life — as it is said[3]: "the candle is a Mitzvah* and the Torah is a light," illuminating every place and every era, and particularly the land that all the nations of the world describe as the Holy Land: "the land toward which the eyes of the Eternal your Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year"[4], as Hashem declares in His Torah. הפתעה נעימה היתה לי לקבל ספר שהוציא לאור, שהמחבר כותב שנשלח לפי בקשתו.

ונוסף על עצם הענין של קבלת הספר, הרי זה מראה ג"כ שפגישותנו לא רק נשארה בזכרוני אלא גם בזכרונו הוא.

תקותי שמאז התראינו ממשיך בפעולותיו ועושה כל התלוי בו למלא תפקידו בתור "מוציא לאור", מתאים לגמרי להוראת מלים אלו, זאת אומרת שעניני הדפוס שמדפיס יפיקו אור אצל הקוראים, ובסגנון חמכינו ז"ל אין אור אלא תורה, תורתנו הנצחיית תורת חיים, כמש"נ נר מצוה ותורה אור, המאירה בכל מקום ובכל זמן, וביתר שאת בארץ אשר כל עמי תבל ארץ הקדש יקראו לה, ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, כדברי ה' בתורתו.
