To the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who devotes himself
to community needs, Rav Yitzchak Meir*[1],

I greet and bless you,

Rav Chadakov*[2] conveyed to me your request for a blessing, on the eve of Rosh Chodesh*. May Hashem bring it about that you give me good news of the content of this request. Doubtless, you have adopted the injunction according to which one must always ascend in the realm of holiness[3] and, in order to put it into practice, it is necessary to have tranquility of body and mind. May the merit of your actions protect you so that this is the case here, so that everything falls into place in the proper manner. With joy and enthusiasm, you will use your capacities to disseminate Judaism and you will give me good news.

On this occasion, I wish to express to you the great satisfaction that your participation in the celebration of the Yeshiva* Achei Temimim Lubavitch of Boston caused me. From what I have been told, your appearance and your speech made a great impression, which means that your words came from the heart[4]. Certainly, it is said[5] that "the reward of a Mitzvah* is the Mitzvah* itself" and it follows that you have already been rewarded. Nevertheless, I wish to tell you that I was particularly pleased. I therefore have good hope that in this case as well, you will ascend in the realm of holiness and that you will assist in the development of the Chabad* schools, among all the educational institutions based on sacred values. With my blessing that you give me good news of all this, and greeting your son, Rav Amos, and with my respects,

P.S.: From what I recall, you once told me that you are originally from Volozhin*[6]. It is clear that this in no way contradicts your support for Lubavitch activities. Concretely, your participation has been effective and, from what has been said, it should even be doubled. This is obvious. Moreover, this is currently your "moment," since Pirkei Avot*[7] is being studied and you yourself have published a work on this subject[8]. According to the words of our Sages[9], in the chapter we are studying this Shabbat*: "whoever multiplies Torah multiplies life, whoever multiplies study multiplies wisdom."

הרב חדקוב שי' מסר לי ערב ראש-חודש בקשת ברכה בנוגע ל...ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בתוכן הבקשה. וזכות פעולותיו, שבודאי נוהג על פי הציווי להעלות בקדש - והרי לזה צ"ל מנוחת הנפש והגוף - יעמוד לו למנוחת הנפש גם בענין..שהכל יסתדר כדבעי.

ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב ינצל כשרונותיו בהפצת היהדות במדה המלאה ויבשר טוב גם בזה.

בהזדמנות זו רצוני להביע קורת רוחי רבה בקשר עם השתתפותו בחגיגת ישיבת אחי תמימים ליובאוויטש בבוסטון, אשר כפי שהודיעוני הופעתו ונאומו עשו רושם חזק, שמראה שהיו דברים היוצאים מן הלב. ואע"פ ששכר מצוה מצוה וכבר בא על שכרו, אבל רצוני להודיע לו שנהניתי מהנ"ל במיוחד, ותקותי חזקה שגם בזה ינהוג כנ"ל באופן דמעלין בקדש, לסייע בהתפתחות מוסדות חינוך חב"ד בתוככי כללות מוסדות חינוך על טהרת הקדש.

בברכה לבשורות טובות בכל האמור ובפ"ש בנו הרב עמוס שי' ובכבוד.

נ.ב. זוכרני שאמר לי פעם שמוצאו מולוזשין. אבל מובן שאין זה סתירה כלל בהנוגע להשתתפות בעניני ליובאוויטש, ומעשה רב שרואני שמשתתף. ואת"ל - אדרבה על פי הנ"ל צריכה ההשתתפות להיות עוד בכפלים וק"ל. ובפרט שעכשו הוא "זמנו", עת לימוד פרקי אבות, שפרסם חבורו בזה, ובלשון חכמינו ז"ל בפרק של שבת זו - מרבה תורה - מרבה חיים, מרבה ישיבה - מרבה חכמה.
