the Rav[1] Shlita*,

You[2] have the merit of being among thousands of Jews[3] in our Holy Land, "toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned"[4]. It is therefore absolutely certain that: "He neither slumbers nor sleeps, the Guardian of Israel," "Hashem is near your right hand." Hashem will protect you, as well as all the children of Israel — may they have long days and good years — from now and for eternity[5]. In response to your telegram, you will study with zeal and ardor, together with all the students. There is no doubt that: "He neither slumbers nor sleeps, the Guardian of Israel"[10]. You will therefore give me good news.

This moment[11] is not at all appropriate for leaving the Holy Land — may it be restored and rebuilt. We will see each other, with the help of Hashem, at a joyful moment, during the month of joy, the coming Tishri*.

I am not at all satisfied with the panics and exaggerations. Hashem will protect you all, among our brothers, the children of Israel, to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years, wherever they may be, and particularly in the place "toward which the eyes of the Eternal your Hashem are always turned"[4].

It is[12] quite obvious that there is no reason to fear, to frighten others, or to frighten oneself. In this way, it will come to pass: "I will give peace in the land"[13].

Concerning places outside of Eretz Yisrael*, it is also said[10] that: "He neither slumbers nor sleeps, the Guardian of Israel" and therefore there is no reason to fear. How much more so is this the case for Eretz Yisrael*, concerning which it is said[4]: "always[14] the Eternal your Hashem, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." Consequently, it is certain that there is nothing to fear.

It is quite obvious[14] that this is not the case. Do not be afraid and do not frighten others.

The wedding[15] will be at a good and fruitful moment, in its proper time, in the Holy Land, where "the Eternal your Hashem has ordained the blessing of life for eternity"[16].

[3] This period was that which preceded the Six-Day War. Foreign embassies in Eretz Yisrael* were urging their nationals to leave the country. The Rabbi, on the contrary, emphasized repeatedly that there was nothing to fear and no reason to leave. Several telegrams to this effect are presented here. פשוט שלא, ואין לפחד ואין להפחיד.

הנישואים יהיו בשטו"מ בזמנם בארץ הקדש כי שם ציוה ה' את הברכה חיים עד העולם.

בימים האלו התחילו ימי ההמתנה למלחמת ששת הימים, והשגרירויות הזרות הודיעו לאזרחיהן לצאת מארצות האיזור ולחזור למדינותיהם. באותם ימים הרבה הרבי לעודד את הנמצאים בארה"ק, והורה שאין עתה הזמן לנסוע מארה"ק.
