1) In reality[1], what was said on this matter[2] was not intended to cause fear, Heaven forbid. On the contrary, this is forbidden, and there is no reason to frighten the children of Israel, to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years. It was solely to support and encourage them by showing that everything depends on Teshuvah* and good deeds. That is why these words are spoken in public, and it is fitting to convey these...

...regarding recent events, one observes yet again how the statement is fulfilled that[4]: "the benevolence of the nations is a sin." There is therefore absolutely no reason to make the error of saying: "my strength and the power of my hand..."[5]. This is quite obvious. Concretely, the children of Israel must forge the channels and receptacles that will allow them to receive Hashem's blessings through the Torah* and the Mitzvot*. Hashem performed open miracles in the past and will therefore perform new ones now, in visible and tangible goodness.

I am replying to your letter of the eve of the holy Shabbat*, in which you inform me of your birthday. No doubt you are strengthening your good conduct, in the manner befitting a daughter of Israel, each one being a daughter of Sarah, of Rivkah, of Rachel, and of Leah. This is furthermore the channel and the receptacle that allows one to receive the blessings of Hashem, blessed be He.

May Hashem therefore make the coming year, for the good, a year of success in all areas. Your parents will derive Jewish satisfaction from you, which means a Jewish Chassidic* satisfaction.
