To the great Rav*, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem, disseminates Torah* publicly, and is filled with alacrity,

I greet and bless you,

Following our discussion[2] regarding the weekly teaching of a Talmud* folio on the radio and the Melaveh Malkah* meal intended to strengthen this project, which will take place shortly, I reiterate herewith my blessing that you succeed in establishing this study, strengthening it, and developing it, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Concerning the various manifest aspects of creation,[3] our Sages say in Midrash Shemot Rabbah*, at the beginning of chapter 38, that they were created for the Temple of the Holy One, blessed be He, and it is only by virtue of this merit that the world may make use of them. How much more is this the case for a hidden and wondrous force of nature, which reaches its fullness only by being a means, a vessel, and a sanctuary for Hashem — for since the day of the destruction of the Temple, the Holy One, blessed be He, has in His world only the four cubits of Halacha*.[4]

As our Sages rule,[5] great is study that leads to action, in accordance with the introduction to the Rambam's* commentary on the Mishnah*,[6] which explains this teaching of our Sages regarding what the Holy One, blessed be He, has at His disposal. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of Hashem*[7] — and I therefore wish that this radio program be used to emphasize and strengthen the fear of Hashem and the actual practice of Mitzvot*. For the ultimate purpose is to understand that one must fear Hashem and keep His Mitzvot.[8]

בהמשך לשיחתנו ע"ד שיעור דף השבוע על ידי הרדיו וסעודת המלוה מלכה לחיזוק הדבר שתתקיים בקרוב.

הנני בזה לכפול ברכתי אשר יצליח לבסס השיעור לחזקו ולהרחיבו הן בכמות הן באיכות.

ואם בכמה דברים גלויים שבבריאה אמרז"ל שנבראו בשביל בית מקדשו של הקב"ה ורק בזכות זה גם העולם משתמש בהם (שמ"ר רפל"ה).

על אחת כמה וכמה בכח נעלם ונפלא שבטבע שמוצא תיקונו רק על ידי העשותו אמצעי כלי ומקדש לו ית' ומיום שחרב ביהמ"ק אין לו להקב"ה בעולמו אלא ד' אמות של הלכה בלבד.

וע"פ פסק רז"ל גדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה (יעויין הקדמת פיה"מ להרמב"ם בביאור המאמר אין לו להקב"ה כו') וראשית חכמה יראת השם, הנני מקוה כי ישתמשו בשידור רדיו זה להדגיש ולחזק עניני יראת שמים וקיום המצוות מעשיות בפועל, וסוף דבר – הכל נשמע: את האלקים ירא ואת מצוותיו שמור.
