To Mr. Yitzchak Benlolo,

I greet and bless you,

I have received your request for a blessing. I will therefore mention your name and the names of the members of your family so that the wish of your heart be positively fulfilled. You have acquired great merit by wearing Tefillin* at the Western Wall*. It is certain that you keep this memory, as must be the case for every good deed. Furthermore, you will practice this Mitzvah* every day and perform another — "you shall love your neighbor as yourself"[1] — by influencing your friends to put on Tefillin* scrupulously. And this great merit will allow you to be blessed in all your needs, both material and spiritual.

You surely know that all the children of Israel are called "the armies of Hashem".[2] You yourself serve in the army, in Tzahal*, and you will therefore easily understand what this means. For an army is founded on discipline and obedience.[3] Every instruction, every directive must be respected without question, for it is for the good not only of one soldier but of all those who belong [to that army]. Thus you will apply the commandment of the Commander-in-Chief of the entire world, which He enacted for all of us, for each of us in particular — the Torah* of life and the Mitzvot*, of which it is said:[4] "And you shall live by them." Please convey my greetings to your friends in your battalion in Tzahal*. With my blessing that Hashem protect you, that you be wholesome physically and morally, and that you give me good news of all that concerns you,

קבלתי הבקשת ברכה ואזכירו עם שאר בני המשפחה למילוי משאלות לבבם לטובה.

וזכותו הגדול שהניח תפלין על יד כותל המערבי, שבודאי לא רק שנשאר אצלו הרושם כמו מכל מעשה טוב, אלא יקיים מצוה זו בכל יום, וגם יקיים מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך להשפיע על חבריו להיות זהירים בהנחת תפלין – יעמוד לו להתברך בכל המצטרך לו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

בודאי ידוע לו שכל בני ישראל נקראים "צבאות ה'", ולהיותו במסגרת הצבא בצה"ל נקל לו להבין תוכן הענין. שהרי כל ענין הצבא מיוסד על המשמעת וקבלת עול לקיים כל צו ופקודה מבלי להרהר אחריהם, כיון שזהו לא רק לטובתו אלא גם לטובת כל חברי פלוגתו וכל אנשי הצבא. וככל הדברים האלה וכמה פעמים ככה הוא מילוי ציווי המפקד הראשי של כל העולם כולו, אבינו שבשמים, מלך מלכי המלכים הקדוש ברוך הוא, אשר נתן לנו ולכל אחד ואחד מאתנו תורת חיים ומצוות עליהן נאמר וחי בהם.

בפ"ש חבריו אשר בפלוגה שלו בצה"ל ובברכה שיגן ה' עליהם ושלמים יהיו בגופם ובנשמתם ובכל אשר להם ויבשר אך טוב.
