I bless and greet you,

I have duly received your letter in which you inform me of your journey to our Holy Land*, may it be restored and rebuilt, as well as of its date. May Hashem make whatever you decide and do be in a good and fruitful moment.

Furthermore, we are entering the month of Adar* and, in the words of our Sages,[3] its Mazal* is healthy — or, according to another version,[4] powerful — for the children of Israel. Its culminating point is the days of Purim*, whose story is inscribed in the Megillah*, which bears not the name of Mordechai*, nor even the combined names of Mordechai and Esther*, but is called Megillat Esther* — [named after] a Jewish woman whose conduct is distinguished, as this Megillat Esther*[6] states: "Esther followed the word of Mordechai*." With my blessing for success in all that has been said, as well as for a joyous Purim* and that you give me good news,

Enclosed please find a specific check, in exchange for the silver Shekalim* you transmitted to me. This is indeed a Mitzvah*, since I am using it, on an exceptional basis, to provide support. The exchange was made solely on the basis of the material value of the currency — this is self-evident.

ויהי רצון שאיך שתחליט ותעשה יהא בשעה טובה ומוצלחת.

ובפרט אשר נכנסים אנו לחודש אדר, אשר כלשון חכמינו ז"ל ברי ( ויש גורסין – תקיף) מזל בני ישראל. ונקודתו הרי הם ימי הפורים, אשר פרשת הימים האלה כתובה במגילה שנקבע שמה לא על שם מרדכי וגם לא במשותף על שם מרדכי ואסתר, כי אם "מגילת אסתר" – אשה בישראל [שהנהגתה מצטיינת בזה, בלשון מגילת אסתר : את מאמר מרדכי אסתר עושה].

בברכת הצלחה בכל האמור ולפורים שמח ולבשו"ט.
