To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of many accomplishments, devoting himself to communal needs, with good conduct,

I greet and bless you,

I have duly received your letter. As we discussed in our face-to-face conversation, I cannot permit myself to instruct anyone to favor one creditor over another. In this matter, no distinction can be made between one coin and a hundred,[1] as we discussed at length. This is obviously not the case when the request comes directly from the person concerned.

All is the effect of divine Providence, and I therefore take this opportunity to send you what was published recently.[2] It deals with the content of this period. I hope it will interest you. With my respects and my blessing,

מאשר אני קבלת מכתבו,

וכפי המדובר בשיחתנו פנים אל פנים, איני רואה היתר לי לצוות למי שהוא לבכר בע"ח אחד לגבי השני, והרי בכגון זה דין פרוטה כדין מנה, וכפי שיחתנו בארוכה בזה. משא"כ כשהנוגע בדבר בעצמו טוען, וק"ל.

כיון שכל ענין בהשגחה פרטית, הנני משתמש בהזדמנות זו לשלוח לכת"ר מה שהו"ל לאחרונה מהמדובר בעניני דיומייא אילין, שתקותי שיענין את כת"ר.
