Igrot Kodesh · Letter 9464
Volume 25 · Letter 86 · 7 Adar 5728 · To: besoins communautaires
By the grace of Hashem,
7 Adar 5728,
Brooklyn,
To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and dedicates himself to communal needs, Rav Moshe,[1]
I greet you and bless you,
I have duly received your letter of 29 Shevat, in which you request a blessing. At an auspicious moment, it will be read near the tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. With my blessing,
May Hashem cause the travels to which you allude to take place at a good and fruitful time, going and returning.[2] Nevertheless, you know my opinion,[3] according to which one should not cross the international dateline during the period of the Omer*. Similarly, if it is easily achievable, one should avoid raising the question of the second day of the festival observed in the diaspora,[4] for one who travels with his family.[5]
