To the attention of Rav Tzvi, known as Doctor Harkavy,[1]

I greet you and bless you,

After a long interruption, I received with pleasure the collection of responsa of the Geonim*, Zikaron LeRishonim*,[2] vol. 1, which has been republished with your articles and publications. I thank you greatly for having taken the trouble to send it to me. During this period, you have surely edited many other works. I therefore have good hope that you will maintain the practice that has always been yours and that you will send them to me. I thank you in advance.

Relying on the news I have received, I am inclined to think that you are well — that is, that you have completely recovered your health. May Hashem therefore cause it to be, in accordance with the injunction of our Sages,[3] that joy is multiplied in this month. A precept of the Torah* is also a force granted[4] to put it into practice. You will therefore multiply goodness and joy in general, which also includes good news from you yourself and from your activities. With my respects and blessing,

אחרי הפסק ארוך, נעם לי לקבל ספר תשובות הגאונים זכרון לראשונים, חלק א', שהו"ל עוה"פ עם מאמריו ופרסומיו. ות"ח ת"ח בעד שימת לבו לשלחו אלי.

ובודאי משך הזמן פירסם עוד כמה וכמה דברים, ותקותי חזקה אשר ינהג במנהגו מאז וישלח גם אותם, ות"ח מראש.

על סמך פ"ש שקבלתי, הנני רוצה להניח שהשלום לו, כוונתי שהבריא ברפואה שלימה.

ויהי רצון אשר כציווי חכמינו ז"ל להרבות בשמחה בחודש זה, וציווי התורה הרי זה גם נתינת כח, ירבה בעניני טוב ושמחה בכלל, כולל בשורות טובות מהנעשה אתם ומפעולותיהם.
