By the grace of Hashem, Tuesday,

when "good" was said twice[1] and the eve of Wednesday,

To the attention of the distinguished Chassid*, chosen of the people, surpassing it, seeking the good of his people, of generous conduct, from an illustrious family, Rav Shneur Zalman,[2] Shlita*,

I greet you and bless you,

I have just learned by telephone that you have received official confirmation of your designation as the sole and exclusive candidate for the high functions you exercise.[3] I therefore reiterate the wishes I expressed in my previous letter.[4] May Hashem give you long days, good and pleasant years, together with your wife, to whom He will grant long life. In good health and with enthusiasm, you will make use of all these possibilities, advancing from one step to the next,[5] adding and illuminating.

May you be blessed, and may we be blessed, together with all our people, the children of Israel, in all the places where they reside, in particular in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt — "the land toward which the eyes of Hashem are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year"[6] — in true and genuine peace. According to the words of the verse,[7] "you shall dwell in security on your land and none shall make you afraid." In our days and in ours, Judah and Israel will be saved,[8] through the true and complete redemption, by our righteous Mashiach*. All these events took place during the days of the month of joy.[9] Indeed, the Halacha* of our holy Torah*, Torah of life, provides[10] that one must then multiply one's joy. With my consideration, my respects and my great blessing,

ואכפול איחולי שבמכתבי הקודם , שיאריך הוי' ימיו ושנותיו בטוב ובנעימים ביחד עם זוג' שליט"א ובבריאות הנכונה וטוב לבב ינצל כל האפשריות ובאופן דהליכה מחיל אל חיל הולך ומוסיף ואור.

ויתברך ונתברך עם כל עמנו בני ישראל בכל מקומות מושבותיהם ובפרט באה"ק ת"ו, ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, בשלום ושלוה אמתית, ובל' הכתוב וישבתם לבטח בארצכם ואין מחריד, ובימיו ובימינו יוושע יהודא וישראל בגאולה האמיתית והשלימה על ידי משיח צדקנו.

והרי היו כל מאורעות אלו בימי חודש השמחה, אשר פס"ד תורתנו הק' תורת חיים להרבות בו בשמחה.
