To the attention of the Chassidim* and, in particular, the students of the Yeshiva* of our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt very soon and in our days, Amen — the "land toward which the eyes of Hashem are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year"[1] — may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I am addressing you[2] on the occasion of the liberation of the synagogue and house of study that was founded by the Rebbe*, our master and leader, Rabbi Menachem Mendel, the Tzemach Tzedek*,[3] within the walls of Jerusalem, may it be restored and rebuilt. This is a communal asset, the property of all the Chassidim* wherever they may be and, in part, in the holy city of Jerusalem. It is "a great house"[4] according to both interpretations our Sages give of this expression[5] — "a place in which prayer grows" and "a place in which Torah* grows" — its public teaching in general, and the study of the Tzemach Tzedek's* commentaries on its revealed part and on the Chassidut*, in particular. I therefore propose forming a governing committee[6] for it, composed of representatives of all the Chassidim*, the students of the Yeshiva* and the Chabad* institutions of the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt — the Chabad* community of Hebron and Torat Emet*, a representative of Kfar Chabad*, the Tomchei Temimim* Yeshiva*, a representative of Collel Chabad*, the successor Rebbe*, and finally, a representative of the Chabad* association, the Chabad* youth association, and the association of Chabad* women and girls. There is no doubt that this governing committee will immediately concern itself, with the greatest urgency, to restore the building of this synagogue and house of study in all its aspects.

May Hashem grant blessing and success to this undertaking of the highest importance. It will be "a great house" in every sense of the term, both materially and spiritually. The prayers of the children of Israel, wherever they may be, will be formulated there, according to the words of the Admor HaZaken*,[7] "with their faces turned toward Jerusalem, as it is said:[8] 'They will pray to Hashem through the city that You have chosen.' They will also strive to face the Temple and face the Holy of Holies." The children of Israel will also study there the Torah* of Hashem, its revealed part and the Chassidut*, and this study will lead them to action,[9] to the practice of Mitzvot* in the best manner.

There is no doubt that all this will hasten the fulfillment of the promise[10] that "Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell in security," according to the words of the verse[4] and the explanation of our Sages.[5] Hashem will erect His house, the Temple and His royal palace, that of King Mashiach*, who will come and liberate us at the time of the true and complete redemption, very soon. With my respects and blessing for great success in what has been said, in joy and enthusiasm, as well as to give me good news of all this,

In order to hasten its realization and because it is difficult to organize a joint meeting of the Chabad* association, the Chabad* youth association and the Chabad* women's and girls' association, all these organizations will surely agree that their representative on this committee be the Chassid*, Rav Avraham Pariz. You will no doubt make known as quickly as possible the content of the present letter, the constitution of this committee and its action in the manner defined. You will do so, according to the words of the Admor HaZaken*,[11] "with extraordinary alacrity, in order to show his joy and his desire to put into practice the Will of the Creator and to provide Him with satisfaction."

In fact, the constitution of a synagogue and house of study, in any place, and, all the more so, the restoration of the ruins of a synagogue and house of study founded by the Tzemach Tzedek* in the holy city of Jerusalem, are, of course, the desire and Will of the Creator, of our Father Who is in the heavens. I attach the participation of the Chassidim* of the rest of the world, including my own, in this action and this realization.

כבוד אנ"ש – והתמימים בפרט – אשר באה"ק תובב"א ארץ אשר עיני ה"א בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה – ה' עליהם יחיו

שלום וברכה!

בקשר עם שחרור בית הכנסת ובית המדרש אשר נתיסד על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר מרנא ורבנא רבי מנחם מענדל, ה"צמח צדק", אשר בירושלים מוקפת חומה – תובב"א.

והרי זה נכס כללי, אחוזת כללות אנ"ש בכל מקום שהם וחלקם בירושלים עיה"ק.

בית גדול, כשני פירושי חז"ל : מקום שמגדלין בו תפילה ומקום שמגדלין בו תורה (תלמוד תורה דרבים בכלל, ובתורת אדמו"ר הצ"צ – בנגלה ובחסידות – במיוחד).

אביע הצעתי לייסד ועד הנהלה מבאי-כח של כללות אנ"ש והתמימים ומוסדות חב"ד באה"ק ת"ו ובירושלים בפרט:

בא-כח כולל חב"ד באה"ק, אשר נתייסד על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן;

בא-כח יישוב אנ"ש אשר הי' בעיה"ק חברון תובב"א – שנתייסד על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר האמצעי – והישיבה אשר בה, ישיבת "תורת אמת", אשר מסיבות ידועות העתיקה מושבה ונמצאת עתה בירושלים, – שיוקבע על ידי הנהלת "תורת אמת";

בא-כח ישיבת "תומכי תמימים", אשר נוסדה על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר (מהורש"ב) נ"ע;

בא-כח כפר חב"ד, אשר נוסד על ידי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ממלא מקומם.

בא-כח אגודת חב"ד, צעירי אגודת חב"ד ואגודת נשי ובנות חב"ד.

ובודאי ועד הנהלה זה יגש תיכף בזריזות הכי אפשרית לשכלול בנין בית הכנסת ובית המדרש האמור בכל פרטיו,

ויהי רצון שתשרה הברכה וההצלחה במפעל הכי נעלה הזה, ויהי' הבית גדול בכל המובנים ובגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד,

ותפלות בני ישראל בכל מקום שהם,

שהיא – בלשון כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן: פניו כנגד ירושלים שנאמר והתפללו אל ה' דרך העיר אשר בחרת ויכוין גם כנגד ביהמ"ק וכנגד בית קדה"ק,

ולימודם תורת ה' נגלה וחסידות, לימוד המביא לידי מעשה – קיום המצוות בהידור,

בודאי יחיש קיום היעוד אשר תוושע יהודא וישראל ישכון לבטח, ובלשון הכתוב וכביאור חז"ל – יקים ה' בית הוי' זה בית המקדש ובית המלך אלו פלטרין של מלך – דא מלכא משיחא יבוא ויגאלנו בגאולה האמתית והשלימה בקרוב ממש.

בכבוד ובברכת הצלחה רבה בכל האמור מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב ולבשורות טובות בכל האמור,

לזרז הדבר וכיון שקשה הדבר עתה לעשות אסיפה משותפת של אגו"ח, צאגו"ח ונשי ובנות חב"ד, בטח יסכימו כולם אשר נציגם בועד האמור יהי' הרה"ח וכו' הרב אברהם שי' פּאַריז.

בודאי בזריזות יבשרו מזה בתוכן מכתב זה – ע"ד הקמת הועד ופעולתו בכיוון הנ"ל (ובל' רבנו הזקן) בזריזות נפלאה להראות שמחתו וחפצו למלאות רצון קונו ולעשות נחת רוח ליוצרו,

והרי הקמת בית הכנסת ובית המדרש בכל מקום שהוא, ובפרט לקומם חורבת ביהכ"נ וביה"מ שנתיסד על ידי כ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק בירושלים עיה"ק – בודאי ובודאי שהוא חפץ ורצון קונו אבינו שבשמים,

מצו"ב השתתפות אנ"ש אשר בחו"ל, כולל גם השתתפותי אני – בפעולה ועבודה האמורה.
