To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
the judge, Rav* Avraham Rapoport[1],

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter, in which you speak to me about your brother[2]. Based on what you write, there is no way to obtain the necessary documents in your country. Having no other alternative, I wrote to the great Rav* C. H. HaCohen Gutnick, as you indicated at the end of your letter. On his side, he has surely turned to his brother, Rav* C. B., on this matter.

On this occasion, I consider it my duty to express my gratitude for your participation in the inauguration of Beit Lubavitch* of London[3], in addition to the help you provided throughout that period. Without doubt, in accordance with the principle that one knows ascent in the domain of holiness[4], you will do so again, in greatly increased measure, as indicated by tractate Sanhedrin* 21a, in the coming days. I thank you in advance, but you know, first and foremost, that: "the reward of the Mitzvah* is the Mitzvah* itself"[5]. With my respects and blessing,

מאשר אני קבלת מכתבו בו כותב אודות אחיו שי', וכיון שעל פי כתבו אין סכויים להשיג עבורו תעודות הדרושות ממדינתם, הרי בלית ברירא כתבתי להרה"ג וכו' הרש"ח שי' הכהן גוטניק כסיום כת"ר במכתבו, ובודאי מצדו דיבר עם אחיו הררש"ב שי' בזה.

בהזדמנות זו מרגיש אני חוב להביע תודתי לכת"ר על השתתפותו בחנוכת הבית של בית ליובאַוויטש בלונדון, נוסף על עזרתו להם במשך הזמנים. ובודאי מתאים להסיסמה דמעלין בקדש – עוד יוסיף בזה כהנה וכהנה – (סנהדרין כא, א) בימים יבואו, ותודתי נתונה בזה מראש, נוסף על העיקר ששכר מצוה מצוה.
