By the grace of Hashem,

In the days of the Omer* count 5728,
Brooklyn, New York,

To all the participants in the annual dinner of the
educational institution Ohaleï Torah*,
may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

The present Omer* period is particularly auspicious[1] and favorable for the annual gathering of the educational institution Ohaleï Torah*.

Everyone knows that the days of the Omer* period have as their purpose the preparation for the receiving of the Torah*[2]. This period reminds us of the time when the children of Israel*, for the first time, counted the days and weeks from their liberation from Egypt* until the giving of the Torah* on Mount Sinai*. They counted each day with impatience, with an immense thirst, and thus they drew near to Sinai* — not only physically, but also in the moral dimension. When they reached Sinai*, they were already completely liberated from all harmful influences, from the bad habits acquired during the long exile in Egypt*. Yet they did not receive the holy Torah* immediately. They had first to offer guarantors[3] — their children[4] — to establish that the Torah* would always be respected and upheld.

Each year, when this period returns, it is clearly emphasized that it is not enough for parents to make the necessary preparations, to strengthen their attachment to the Torah* and the Mitzvot*. It is furthermore indispensable to ensure that the children[4] will effectively be able to fulfill their mission — that they will truly be the guarantors of the Torah*[4], that they will receive the means to study it, to strengthen it, and above all that they will be able to make the Torah* and the Mitzvot* the foundation of their daily existence.

The educational institution Ohaleï Torah* has carved out an honorable place in the domain of education based on sacred values. It deserves to be fully supported by all who understand that the Torah* and the Mitzvot* are[5]: "our life and the length of our days"[4]. It is therefore to be hoped that the motivation and preparations of this Omer* period will be fully and concretely expressed in generous support that will enable this educational institution to strengthen and develop its educational achievements, in order to form the greatest number of "guarantors of the Torah*."

The merit of strengthening and supporting the Torah* will protect each person and all together, in order to obtain all the blessings — material and spiritual — enumerated in the holy Torah*, which "is a tree of life to those who hold it, and those who support it are happy"[6]. לטובת מוסד החינוך ״אהלי תורה״

ה׳ עליהם יחיו

שלום וברכה!

ימי ספירה אלו ,מסוגלים ומתאימים במיוחד לארוע השנתי של

מוסד החינוך ״אהלי תורה״.

ידוע הרי לכולם ,שימי הספירה הם זמן הכנה לקבלת התורה .ימים

אלו מזכירים לנו את הזמן ההוא כאשר בני ישראל ספרו בפעם הראשונה

את הימים ואת השבועות מאז גאולתם ממצרים עד מתן־תורה בהר סיני.

ובכל יום שספרו בכזה חוסר סבלנות ובתשוקה גדולה ,הם התקרבו

לסיני ,לא רק בשטח גשמי ,אלא גם ברוחניות .וכאשר לבסוף הגיעו להר

סיני ,כבר השתחררו לגמרי מכל ההשפעות הבלתי רצויות וההרגלים

הבלתי רצויים שדבקו בהם במשך גלותם הארוכה במצרים .אבל למרות

זאת הם לא קיבלו מיד את התורה הק׳ -עד שהגישו את הילדים בתור

״ערבים״ שהתורה תשמר ותכובד לנצח.

בכך מודגש בכל שנה בזמן זה ,שלא די בכך שההורים עצמם

מתכוננים ומחזקים את הקשר שלהם עם תורה ומצוות .נחוץ להבטיח,

שהילדים יוכלו למלא את תפקידם בתור הערבים לתורה -שתינתן להם

האפשרות ללמוד תורה ,לכבד את התורה ,והעיקר להיות חדורים בתורה

ומצוות כיסוד של חיי היום־יום שלהם.

מוסד החינוך ״אהלי תורה״ רכש לעצמו מקום של כבוד בשדה

החינוך התורני על טהרת הקודש .המוסד ראוי למלוא התמיכה מכל אחד

המבין שתורה ומצוות חם חיינו ואורן ימיגו -כל חיינו ומהותנו.

יש לקוות שההתעוררות וההכנות של ימי הספירה אלו ,יתבטאו

במידה מלאה ובאופן ממשי -בתמיכה ברוחב לב לאפשר למוסד החינוך

להמשיך ולהרחיב את פעילותו החינוכית ,כדי ליצור עוד ועוד ״ערבים

לתורה״.

זכות החזקת ותמיכת התורה תעמוד לכל אחד ולכולם להתברך בכל

הברכות ,בגשמיות וברוחניות ,שהן הובטחו בתורה הק׳ ,עץ חיים היא

למחזיקים בה ותומכיה מאושר.
