To the students completing their studies at the Beth Rivka*
elementary school of Kfar Chabad* in our Holy Land,
may it be restored and rebuilt,
may Hashem grant you long life,

I bless and greet you,

I received your letter with pleasure, on the occasion of the completion of your studies at the elementary school and your transition to the Beth Rivka* secondary school. May Hashem cause this to be at a good and fruitful time.

We have just experienced the giving of our Torah*, and it is known that the women and girls of Israel then had a preponderant role. As the Torah* relates and as our Sages explain[2], the Holy One, blessed be He, before giving the Torah*, commanded Moshe our teacher to address, first of all, the women and girls of Israel, in order to obtain their agreement. For it says: "Thus shall you speak" — first — "to the house of Yaakov," that is, to the women — "and you shall say" — afterward — "to the children of Israel," to the men. Without doubt, the response "we shall do and [then] we shall understand"[3] was given in the same way, so that the women indicated their agreement first, wholeheartedly and with good will.

Each year[4], during this period, all this is accomplished anew, with increased light, strength and support granted by Hashem.

If this has always been so, how much more is it the case in our generations[5]. For various reasons and due to the conditions of the place, several roles which previously belonged to the master of the home[6] — the husband and father — have now been transferred to the mistress of the home[6] — the wife and mother[7]. For this, a specific education is necessary, a particular preparation for Jewish girls. This is the mission of the Beth Rivka* school, founded by my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. How fortunate is your lot, since you have merited to be its students, to receive your education within an educational institution of such importance.

May Hashem grant success to the work of your hands. You will give a fruitful example of irreproachable Jewish girls, to the great satisfaction of your fathers and teachers. With my blessing for considerable success, as well as to give me good news,

ברכה ושלום!

בנועם קבלתי מכתבן בקשר עם סיומן בי"ס היסודי בדרך מעברן לבי"ס העל-יסודי דבית רבקה, ויהי רצון שיהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת.

והרי באים אנו מזמן מתן תורתנו, אשר, כידוע, הי' בזה לנשי ובנות ישראל חלק בראש, כסיפור התורה וביאור חכמינו ז"ל, אשר קודם נתינת התורה ציוה הקב"ה את משה רבנו לפנות תחילה לנשי ובנות ישראל ולקבל הסכמתן, כדיוק הכתוב: כה תאמר (תחילה) לבית יעקב (אלו הנשים), ותגיד (אח"כ) לבני ישראל (אלו האנשים). ובודאי אשר המענה "נעשה ונשמע" הי' על דרך זה, שהנשים נתנו הסכמתן תחילה ובלבב שלם ונפש חפצה.

ובכל שנה ושנה בזמן הזה מתחדשים הענינים בתוספת אור וכוח וסיוע מלמעלה.

ואם בכל הדורות כך, על אחת כמה וכמה בדורותינו אלו, אשר מכמה סיבות ותנאי הזמן הנה כמה תפקידים שהיו בעיקרם מתפקידי בעל הבית , הבעל והאב, עברו לידי עקרת הבית ואם הבנים, שמשום כך מוכרח חינוך מיוחד והכנה מיוחדה לבנות ישראל. שזהו תפקידו של ביה"ס "בית רבקה" מיסודו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע. ואשרי חלקן שזכו להיות תלמידות ומחונכות במוסד חינוך נעלה זה.

ויהי רצון אשר חפץ הוי' בידן יצליח להיות דוגמא מוצלחת ובנות ישראל למופת, לרוב נחת אמיתי להוריהן ומוריהן שיחיו.
