To Mrs. Shifra Yehudit[1],

I bless and greet you,

I have just received your letter of 23 Nissan*, which was presumably sent to me by regular mail, along with what was enclosed in it. I thank you very much for the good news concerning the actions of the greatest importance that you describe. May Hashem cause you, in the future, to give me further good news. Similarly, and it is quite evident that this is essential, you will tell me that you derive genuine Jewish and Chassidic* satisfaction from all your children.

The youth leadership of the Chabad* association has surely conveyed to you the content of my letter[2] expressing my negative reaction to the idea of a trip that would be organized here for Bar Mitsva* boys. I mention this because, without doubt, you must have taken part in the discussions on this subject[3].

To move from one idea to another while remaining in the same context, I will add that there is no need to organize a celebration for Bat Mitsva* girls[4]. For the Rabbanim* in Israel still have divergent views on the advisability of introducing such a ceremony. The matter can be considered from various angles and it is still too early to adopt a firm position in this regard. On the other hand, it would be good to invite them to the Kfar Chabad* summer camps, in the same way as the Bar Mitsva* boys. Without making it a pledge, a contribution will be sent from here, amounting to a tenth — ten percent — of the cost of accommodating these boys and girls at the Kfar Chabad* summer camp. You will kindly convey all this to the camp management or to those responsible for this activity, along with a first check, which you will find enclosed herewith, constituting an advance payment. At the conclusion of this camp, a precise accounting will surely be sent here[5].

I convey to you my blessing to give me good news of all this, in particular regarding the success of the education of your children, as well as on the occasion of the approaching festival of liberation[6],

זה עתה נתקבל מכתבה מכ"ג ניסן, שכנראה נשלח בדואר רגיל, עם המצורף אליו.

ות"ח ת"ח בעד הבשורות טובות מהפעולות הכי נעלות אודותן כותבת. ויהי רצון שתבשר טוב בזה גם להבא, וכן – וכמובן שעיקרי הוא – מנחת אמתי יהודי חסידותי מכל ילידי' שיחיו.

בודאי מסרו לה מהנהלת צעירי אגודת חב"ד תוכן מכתבי בשלילת הסברה דנסיעת הברי-מצוה לכאן. ומזכיר אני ענין זה כיון שבטח גם היא השתתפה בדיון האמור.

ומענין לענין באותו ענין – שאין כדאי לערוך חגיגת בנות-מצוה, כיון שעדיין רבני ישראל מחולקים בדעתם האם יש מקום להנהיג טקס זה, וכמה צדדים לדבר, ועדיין מוקדם הזמן לקבוע הלכה פסוקה בזה. לאידך גיסא, נכון הדבר להזמינם לקייטנות כפר חב"ד, וכן הברי-מצוה. ובלי נדר תהי' השתתפות מכאן במעשר (עשרה אחוזים) בהוצאות הארחת הילדים והילדות הנ"ל בהקייטנה דכפר חב"ד. ומטובה למסור על דבר זה להנהלת הקייטנה או להמתעסקים בפעולה האמורה, ביחד עם המחאה ראשונה המצו"ב בתור התחלה. ובטח בסיום הקייטנות יודיעו לכאן חשבון מדוייק.
