To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
devotes himself to communal needs, of many accomplishments,
Rav Yaakov Herzog[1],

I greet and bless you,

You are aware of the activities that have been carried out for some time by activists in the Torah* camp in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, and of the rescue of our brothers, the children of Israel, from the hands of missionaries, in accordance with the well-known letter of the Ramban*[2] according to which: "one who is more holy than his neighbor...[3]." It is therefore not surprising that their financial situation is particularly difficult. You no doubt know this as well.

Given these serious difficulties, Rav Tzvi Weinman told me that he went to Mr. Bronfman in Montreal. The latter promised to assist them by giving a substantial amount, on condition that you yourself give your agreement to this. When he comes to visit our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, around mid-Tammuz*, Mr. Bronfman will contact you on this matter.

Of course, even if I had not written to you, you would surely have done everything in your power to ensure that Mr. Bronfman's participation in these particularly important activities would be realized. It is therefore simply a matter here of emphasizing the importance of the funds that are needed. In this domain as well, you presumably exercise considerable influence over Mr. Bronfman. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to explain the importance of such an achievement and its value.

Of course, I would be interested to know what has become of the various points we discussed during your visit here, especially since the situation has not calmed since then — quite the contrary. May Hashem cause this fourth month[4] to be one of joy and rejoicing, with the fulfillment of the promise of true and complete redemption, by our righteous Moshiach*, very soon. בהמשך להידוע לכ' מכבר על דבר עבודת פעילי המחנה התורתי באה"ק ת"ו, והצלת אחינו בני ישראל מהמסיון וכולי, ומתאים למכתב הרמב"[ן] הידוע אשר כל המקודש מחברו וכו', אין פלא שהמצב אצלם באמצעי כסף דחוק מאד מאד, ובודאי גם זה ידוע למר.

ובהתאם לגודל הדוחק בזה סיפר לי הרב צבי שי' וינמן, שביקר את מר בראָנפמן שי' במונטרעאַל, וענהו שיבוא לעזרתם בסכום חשוב ובלבד אשר כבודו יסכים על זה. ובביקורו של מר בראָנפמן באה"ק ת"ו (לערך בחצי חודש תמוז) יבוא בקשר עם כ' בזה.

ואף שבודאי גם בלי מכתבי יעשה כ' את התלוי בו בשביל שתתגשם עזרת מר בראָנפמן לפעולות הכי נעלות האמורות, לא נצרך אלא להעדפה בגודל הסכום, שבטח גם בזה השפעה גדולה לכ' על מר בראָנפמן. והרי אין צריך להאריך לדכוותי' בגודל הדבר וערכו.

כמובן אתענין ביותר לדעת ההמשך בהענינים אודותם דיבר עמי כ' בביקורו בניו-יאָרק, ובפרט שהמצב מאז ועד עתה לא נעשה שקט יותר אלא אדרבה.

ויהי רצון אשר חודש הרביעי הזה יהי' חודש של ששון ושמחה בקיום יעוד הגאולה האמתית והשלימה על ידי משיח צדקנו בקרוב ממש.
