By the grace of Hashem,

16 Tammuz* 5728,

To the students of the class of Rav* Chabtai Alperin(1),
may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet and bless you,

I have duly received your letter from the eve of the holy Shabbat* Parshat Chukat*, "This is the decree of the Torah*." May Hashem favorably fulfill the desire of your hearts, in accordance with what you write to me — that you achieve success in the study of Torah* and the practice of Mitzvot* in the best way possible, filled with awe and love of Hashem, and may the teaching(2) of our Sages be fulfilled in each of you and in all of you together: "If you make an effort," then the assurance is given that "you will find"(3) success in all matters.

You surely know the story of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*(4), the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. What is certain is that his liberation was not merely for his personal benefit, but for the benefit of all those who walk in his path and the path of his forebears. Similarly, the directive he addressed to all Chassidim* was not for his personal benefit, but for the benefit of all.

Since you are, thank Hashem, among those who study in the institution bearing his name, take this opportunity to increase your dedication to Torah* and Mitzvot*, each in your personal conduct and in your influence on those around you.

With my blessing for success in all the above, and to give me good news regarding all that is written,

כיון שהמענה נכתב ביום זכאי ,שבעבר היה אחד הימים הכי

שמחים ,כפי שחכמינו זכרונם לברכה מספרים )לא היו ימים טובים

לישראל כחמשה עשר באב כו׳(,

הנני מאחל לו ולזוגתו ובני הבית שיחיו הצלחה בכל עניניהם ,בפרט

הטבה בפרנסה ,ובעיקר לחנך כל אחד מילדיהם שיחיו ,ואת כולם ,לתורה

ולחופה ולמעשים טובים ,מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.

ויקויים אצלם לפום צערא אגרא -כיון שהיו להם אי נעימויות

בשני הענינים ,ייטיב לכם הקב״ה כמה פעמים ככה ,ויהיו לכם בשורות

טובות לבשר.

ונזכה כולנו בתוך כלל ישראל לקיום הנבואה בהפטרת שבת נחמו זו

נחמו נחמו עמי יאמר אלקיכם ,וימי בין המצרים יהפכו לששוןולשמחה ולמועדים טובים.
