Igrot Kodesh · Letter 9525

Volume 25 · Letter 147 · 20 Tamouz 5728 · To: besoins communautaires

By the grace of Hashem,

20 Tammuz* 5728,
Brooklyn, New York,

To my close relative, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem, of good conduct, dedicates himself to communal needs, of multiple accomplishments, filled with alacrity, Mr. Yitzchak(1),

I greet and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 16 May in its time. I waited to receive the two books to which you allude, thinking they would reach me from one moment to the next. In practice, I have only just received them these past days — perhaps due to the strike that took place in France(2). I therefore hasten to acknowledge receipt.

At the same time, I wish to express the hope that, from now on, you yourself and all Jews in general will continue to publish and disseminate only good news — in general and regarding specific individuals. May you do all of this in good health, in good spirits, and naturally also with good news of your family.

Moreover, we have just lived through the days of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, the liberation, in its time, of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, the story of which you surely know. You also know that among Jews — "a stiff-necked people"(3) — an auspicious day(4), that of a liberation, commemorating a past event, also has a continuation, remains what it is, and continues to be considered, each year, a favorable date. With my blessing, and to give me good news in all matters,

Your close relative,
