By the grace of Hashem,

The fifteenth of Av* 5728,
Brooklyn, New York,

I greet and bless you,

I have duly received your letter(1) and may Hashem grant that you give me good news of its content. We are indeed on an auspicious day, of which it is said(2): "There were no festivals for Israel comparable to the fifteenth of Av." We are also entering the period of double consolation(3).

May Hashem therefore grant you success in all that you write, until the fulfillment of the promise(4) proclaimed in the Haftarah* of this Shabbat* — "Comfort, comfort My people, says your Hashem" — with the coming of the righteous redeemer, very soon and in our days. With my blessing, and to give me good news,

מכתבו נתקבל, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בתוכנו.

והרי נמצאים אנו ביום סגולה שעליו נאמר לא היו טובים לישראל כחמשה עשר באב כו', ונכנסים לימי הנחמה בכפלים.

יברכהו השי"ת בהצלחה בכל הענינים שכותב עד קיום היעוד דהפטרה דשבת זו – נחמו נחמו עמי יאמר אלקיכם, בביאת גואל צדק במהרה בימינו.
