By the grace of Hashem,

To those who receive their education at the summer camp
of the Chabad* Yeshiva* of Lod,
may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I have received, with pleasure, your letter and your request for a blessing, as well as the photographs. May Hashem positively fulfill the wishes of your heart and may you know success in all that you accomplish, materially and spiritually, so as to be Chasidim*, Torah scholars and Hashem-fearing.

It goes without saying that this depends only on you, for "nothing stands in the way of will"[1] and, even more so, "one who comes to purify himself is given assistance"[2]. Indeed, these days are propitious[3] since they belong to the month of mercy[4] and good will, whose theme is defined by the well-known image expressed by the Admor HaZaken*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and the Tanya*, in the Likkutei Torah*, in the portion of Re'eh*, page 32:

"This evokes the image of a king who, before entering the city, is welcomed by the townsfolk. These men go out to meet him in the field and, from that moment on, whoever wishes is permitted to present himself before him. He extends a warm welcome to each one and shows a smiling face to all." Such is the content of the month of Elul. The King is then "in the field" and the thirteen Attributes of Divine mercy are revealed.

May Hashem therefore bring it about that each of us, within all of Israel, makes use of these propitious days to draw closer to our Father Who is in heaven, sincerely and deeply, by intensifying that which pertains to Torah and Mitzvot* practiced in the best manner. Hashem will welcome with goodwill and a smiling face the prayers and requests of each of us, within all of Israel, for good and for blessing. With my blessing for success, to give me good tidings, as well as to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year,

שלום וברכה!

בנועם קבלתי מכתבם ובקשתם פ"נ, בצירוף התמונות, והשי"ת ימלא משאלות לבבם לטובה להצליח בכל מעשה ידיהם בגשמיות וברוחניות ולהיות חסידים יראי שמים ולמדנים.

ולמותר להדגיש כי אין הדבר תלוי אלא בהם, כי אין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ואדרבה, הבא לטהר מסייעין אותו.

והרי הימים האלה ימי סגולה הם, ימי חודש הרחמים והרצון, אשר ענינם מבואר במשל הידוע של כ"ק רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשלחן ערוך (לקו"ת, פ' ראה, לב):

משל למלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם כו'.

וזהו ענין חודש אלול, שאז הוא בבחינת "מלך בשדה", זמן התגלות י"ג מדות הרחמים.

ויהי רצון אשר כל אחד מאתנו בתוככי כלל ישראל ינצל ימי סגולה אלה להתקרב לאבינו שבשמים באמת ובפנימיות, בהוספה בעניני תורה ומצות בהידור, והשם יתברך יקבל בסבר פנים יפות ושוחקות תפילות ובקשות כל אחו"א מאתנו בתוככי כלל ישראל לטובה ולברכה.

בברכה להצלחה ולבשורות טובות ולכתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה.
