To the distinguished Chasid* who fears Hashem and dedicates himself to communal needs, Rabbi Moshe Tzvi HaLevi[1],
I greet you and bless you,
I have duly received your letter from the eve of Rosh Chodesh* Elul[2] and I refer to its contents[3]:
A) Your field of action in the future will be "public service" because, according to the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*[4]: "the past indicates what the future must be." Indeed, you have known remarkable success[5] in transmitting the light, Judaism and especially Chasidut* to many circles, particularly certain ones that you were, for the time being, the only one who could reach. In the future, you must therefore continue in this direction, particularly during the days of special motivation that are Elul*, Tishrei*, the celebrations and the festivals. Of course, at the conclusion of your remarks, you must emphasize that: "action is essential"[6].
B) It is quite obvious, but, to my great surprise, it seems that you are considering another possibility, which is why I am stating it clearly to you: you must not give up your positive practice, your great merit, consisting of blowing the Shofar* at the conclusion of Yom Kippur* before the Western Wall*. Happy is your portion, for you have such a merit!

לתוכן מכתבו:
א) שטח פעולותיו בעתיד "לשרת את הציבור" – ע"פ פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר "העבר – מלמד העתיד": הרי הצליח (וביותר) בהבאת עניני ואור היהדות (ודא"ח בפרט) לכו"כ חוגים, ובהם כאלו (שלע"ע עכ"פ) רק הוא מצא הגישה אליהם – ובזה ימשיך גם להבא (ובפרט בימי התעוררות דאלול ותשרי וכיו"ב, חגים ומועדים). וכמובן בהדגשה (בסיכום דבריו) שהמעשה הוא העיקר.
ב) ופשוט הוא (אלא שלתמהוני הגדול כנראה קס"ד שלו אינו כן – ולכן כותבני זה בפירוש) – בודאי לא יוותר על מנהגו הטוב וזכותו הכי גדול – תק"ש במוצאי יוהכ"פ ע"י כותל המערבי, ואשרי חלקו שזכה לכך וכו'.
