By the grace of Hashem,

Rosh Chodesh*[1] Nissan*[2] 5729,
Brooklyn, New York,

To the attention of the participants in the celebration of the laying of the cornerstone[3] of the second Kfar Chabad*[4], in our Holy Land*, may it be restored and rebuilt — very soon and in our days, by our righteous Mashiach* — may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you.

I became aware[5], with great pleasure, of the laying of the cornerstone of the second Kfar Chabad*, which will take place on 11 Nissan*[6] — for us and for all of Israel*, for life, for good, and for peace. I hope that very soon it will be second only in time, but no less united with the Kfar Chabad* that has existed for twenty years. Moreover, subsequently there will be a third, then a fourth Kfar Chabad*, so that they all form a single entity[7] in one spirit.

As has been explained many times, our Sages note that, as an effect of the greatness of the Holy One, blessed be He, the faces of men are not identical and their opinions differ[8]. Yet Hashem, blessed be He, Creator of man, asks[9] for the drawing together of hearts within our people, the children of Israel*, and even its unity, to form a single great Jewish heart[10].

True and lasting unity of different and separate elements is conceivable only[11] through a unified life based on the Torah* of life, the Torah* of the Hashem of life. For "we all have one Torah*[12]," given by the one Hashem*[12]. Thus Israel*[12] is "a unique people on earth"[13].

Just as we have merited laying the cornerstone of the second Kfar Chabad*, may Hashem cause us to soon witness the completion of this Kfar Chabad* — its finishing and full inhabitation, both material and spiritual. Thereafter, right after that, there will be a third Kfar Chabad*, a fourth, then those that follow — all solid, in accordance with the will of the first founder of Kfar Chabad*, my father-in-law the Rabbi*, based on a triple love[14]: love of Hashem*[12], love of Torah*[12], and love of Israel*[12]. For true love is that which draws close and unites. Indeed, Ahavah*, love, has the same numerical value as Echad*, one[15].

From these Kfar Chabad* communities, the sources of the words of the living Hashem will spread outward. With them, this spirit of true love will be transmitted and it will be revealed everywhere this spreading reaches that "Israel*, the Torah*, and the Holy One, blessed be He, are one"[16] — both in a hidden and in a revealed manner.

The building of this Kfar Chabad* will lead, very soon, to the fulfillment of the promise of David*, king of Israel*[17]: "Hashem will arise, His enemies will be dispersed and those who hate Him will flee from before His face"[18]. Now, can there be enemies before the One Who created the world by His Word? In truth, these are the enemies of Israel*[19]. "And He will save Zion*, rebuild the cities of Judah*. They will settle there and inherit it"[20-21]. With my respects, my blessing for success in the work of your hands, as well as my wishes for a kosher and joyous Passover* festival,

Menachem Schneerson
